Tarlac bags 4th local governance award

THE Department of the Interior and Local Government’s [DILG] Seal of Good Local Governance [SGLG] was bestowed on Tarlac for the fourth time.

Vice Governor Carlito David and Provincial Administrator Roberto Ventura accepted the award from DILG Sec. Eduardo Ano held Tuesday, November 5, 2019, at the Manila Hotel.

The SGLG honors local government units due to their sound financial administration, disaster preparedness, social protection, peace and order, business friendliness and competitiveness, environmental management and tourism, culture and the arts.

This is the fourth time that Tarlac province received such award. The first was in 2015 and 2016 under then governor Vic Yap, who is the Tarlac second district Representative.

The province got its second award last year under the leadership of incumbent Governor Susan Yap.

Yap said that she is very proud to be named winner of the SGLG again.

“This is an award is not only for the people who work for the provincial government but to all Tarlaqueños as well. Without the brilliance of our people, this award could not have been realized,” she said.

“This is in recognition to the sincerity and brilliance of our local government. You are our inspiration...this is Serbisyong MaYap,” David said.

Aside from Tarlac province, the municipalities of Victoria, Capas, Gerona, Moncada, Pura, San Clemente, Sta. Ignacia and the city of Tarlac were also named national SGLG winners.

Of the seven provinces that comprise Central Luzon, only Tarlac, Bulacan and Bataan were named SGLG awardees. (Ric Sapnu)
