Brandon Lee's fight not over

WHILE journalist Brandon Lee is recovering in the US, his family is continuing the fight for justice.

Louise Lee, mother of Brandon, said in a statement that her son’s fight for justice is for the other victims of extrajudicial killings as well.

"let’s not permit this failed assassination attempt on my son’s life be in vain. Unlike Brandon, there are tens of thousands of extrajudicial killings in the Philippines who remain unknown because they do not receive the same international attention as Brandon. My son would say, his fight for justice is for them too.”

The family of the recovering journalist is convinced the Philippine Army was behind the attack because Brandon identified his shooters as they frantically brought him for medical care.

Brandon, a US citizen with permanent residence in the Philippines, was shot in front of his house in Lagawe, Ifugao on August 6, 2019. He is a correspondent of Northern Dispatch.

A crowd gathered last month on the steps of San Francisco City Hall to welcome Brandon back to the US.

“My son, who like many innocent people in the Philippines, was senselessly shot for speaking out for those who have no voice, for those who are marginalized, and for those who are being taken advantage of,” Louise said.
