De Leon: New ways millennials celebrate birthdays

OUT of everything you can count on in life, birthdays are one of them. Even if you don't necessarily celebrate yours, you get a birthday once a year. I'm one of those people who loves going all-out for their birthday. I try to fill up the entire month with fun activities, visiting family, and planning the best catching up times.

Is there anything we love more than a celebration? So let's toast to celebrations of different kinds and try to up last every past year. But we're not only talking about ordinary house parties and balloons. We are talking about new and probably simpler things that make a great bash: Karaoake night with the squad, a solo pamper time in the spa, trip with the fam. You name it, we've done it!

But here are few more:

Host a game night for friends

No one is too old for games. And we're not just talking about board games. But also mobile games like Call of duty, Mobile Legends and what not. What better way to spend a special day but with some fun competition among friends?

Have a relaxing staycation in the city

When millennials prefer to pamper themselves for their birthday, a staycation with family or friends in their favorite villa is a way to do it while binge watching "Money heist" and the like on Netflix.

Vitamin Sea and Happy Hike-day

Yes. A birthday by the beach or on a mountain peak is definitely for the more outdoorsy ones.

Celebration for a social cause

Contrary to the common notion that millennials are self-centered, lazy and vain, there are lots who are truly mindful and caring, which is why we opt to celebrate birthdays volunteering at orphanages or shelters.

You see as a millennial, you're working your butt off on the regular establishing that work-life balance. It's a lot, and you've been killing it since day one. If that's not enough of an excuse celebrate, I don't know what is. So next time around, don't hold yourself back from enjoying. You deserve it.
