City Hall to 'Bao-Bao' drivers: Don't ply national highway

CAGAYAN de Oro City Administrator Teddy Sabuga-a appealed to tricab or "bao-bao" drivers, particularly those plying along the national highway, to observe road rules and regulations.

The call came after some 70 "bao-bao" were apprehended in Puerto highway, Captain Vicente Roa and Corrales streets since October.

On October 15, 35 tricabs were apprehended along Puerto highway, 16 tricabs on Captain Vicente Roa Street on October 23, four tricabs on November 4, and 15 on November 6 on C.M. Recto-Corrales streets.

The drivers were penalized after entering a prohibited area and passing along the national highway.

Sabuga-a said they are planning to impose a total ban of tricabs in the highways, and only allow them to travel in barangay roads.

"Gipahibalo naman ni sila nga dili allowed kay pila ra ang kusog sa bao-bao kung malabyan sa dako nga truck, murag gakapalid because it is not designed for the highways but sa inner roads lang," he said.

"This is for their safety and their passengers," he added.
