THE 2012-Pioneer Auto Supply was crowned champion of the Division C after routing the 2013-iPak/Roble Shipping, 79-64, to sweep the best-of-three finals in the 2019 Sacred Heart Ateneo Alumni Basketball Athletic Association (SHAABAA) Cebu Landmasters Cup at the Magis Eagles Arena in Mandaue City on Sunday, Nov. 10, 2019.

Titles in Division A and B however, are still up for grabs after the 1999-AutoLAB and Batch 2004 pulled off wins to even up the finals series in their respective divisions.

Batch 1999 pulled away in the fourth canto, outscoring the 1990-Bayfront Hotel to come away with a 65-51 win in Game Two in their Division A showdown. Jeremy Huang piled up impressive numbers of 16 points and 14 rebounds to go with two assists, two steals and a block to send their series to a deciding Game Three.

The 2000-Core Pacific, on the other hand, bested Batch 2004, 64-53, to also force a rubbermatch for the Division B crown. Wily guard Serg Go Bui got a double-double of 26 points and 13 rebounds while Marvin Roma added 18 of his own to help 2000 get the series-tying win.

Game 3 of the Division A and B finals will be on Wednesday at the Ateneo de Cebu basketball courts on General Maxilom Ave.

The day, however, belonged to Batch 2012 which trailed by 10 in the early goings of the ballgame as 2013’s stalwarts Rendell Senining and Arc Gabrielle Araw-Araw scored the game’s first 10 points. However, 2012 clawed their way back to the game and trailed by just one at halftime, 39-40, before taking over the lead in the third, 58-52.

Batch 2012 then kept their foot on the gas pedal and settled the game’s outcome by bringing their lead to a high of 18, 77-59, after a deuce by Patrick Go with just 2:09 remaining.

Big man Julius Cadavis was unstoppable as he nearly got a rare triple-double with 25 points, 15 rebounds and seven assists. He was also a force to be reckoned with on the defensive end of the floor with five steals and two blocks.

Former National University Bulldogs wingman Dave Wilson Yu added 19 points, seven boards and three assists even as Go contributed 13 points, eight rebounds, two assists, three steals and a block.

Araw-Araw scored 19 points in a losing effort for Batch 2013, while Senining had a muted 17 points after scoring a whopping 39 points in Game 1. JNP
