Police: Chua was rescued

FILIPINO-CHINESE businessman Jordan Chua reportedly has escaped from his abductors Thursday but a police official said the 26-year-old Chua was rescued.

Police Chief Inspector Jefferson Descallar, spokesman of Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Noppo) said intelligence report reaching his office disclosed that a police official, whom he refused to name, called on him and reported that Chua has been rescued.

“But as of this time we could not finally make any disclosure until such time that we receive an official communication,” said Descallar.

Descallar expressed confidence that if indeed the rescue of Chua is true, it would lead to the speedy resolve of his abduction case.

“The investigation would somehow allow investigators to really pin down the perpetrators of his (Chua) abduction…we would be able to locate them and appropriate charges could also be finally filed,” said Descallar.

Young Chua is well known in the business community in Bacolod City and that he reportedly engaged in the buy and sell of luxury vehicles.

His abduction is believed however to have been instituted by a syndicated crime group.

Joel Arroyo, Chua's biking buddy who was shot by the suspects when he tried to help him, is still confined at the Bacolod Adventist Hospital as of this writing with strict police security.

The abduction and shooting incidents occurred in a nearby barangay in Bago City, on March 6, 2010 in the morning.

Chua was abducted by still 4 unknown suspects riding in a van without a plate number.
