Retirees, balikbayans among Suroy-Suroy Sugbo’s top patrons

THOSE who wish to join the Suroy-Suroy Sugbo Southern Heritage Trail on Nov. 15 to 17, 2019 have until Wednesday, Nov. 13, to register with the Provincial Government.

Provincial Tourism Office officer-in-charge Maria Lester Ybañez said that as of Monday, Nov. 11, around 147 persons, mostly retirees and Cebuano balikbayans, have already registered for the activity.

“Around 70 percent of our participants are actually those that have joined our previous Suroy-Suroy activities. Surprisingly, most of them are Cebuanos,” she said.

Three tourist buses from Silver Lines will bring the participants to southern towns and cities.

Ybañez said each bus can accommodate a maximum of 49 passengers at a time.

The high-end package will cost participants P16,000 while the low-end package costs P10,000.

Both packages will cover meals, transportation, accommodation and tourist kits for the entire activity.

Participants will depart from the Capitol compound at 6:30 a.m. on Nov. 15 and will head straight to Minglanilla town.

They will then proceed to the towns of San Fernando, Sibonga, Argao, Dalaguete, Alcoy and Boljoon.

More delicacies and cultural shows will be showcased on the second day by the towns of Oslob, Santander, Samboan, Ginatilan, Malabuyoc, Alegria, Badian and Moalboal.

The towns of Alcantara, Ronda, Dumanjug and Barili, and the cities of Carcar, Naga and Talisay are the destinations on the third and final day of the activity.

A local government unit is given an hour to showcase its products and culture to the participants.

Other Suroy-Suroy Sugbo trails such as the Northern Escapade, Enchanting Camotes, Explore Midwest and Urban Adventure will be organized in 2020. RTF
