HUNDREDS of fire victims in Cebu City are enjoying free water from the Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD), which has been providing evacuation sites and areas hit by disasters with water supply.

MCWD installed faucets for the fire survivors in Sitio Lusimba in Barangay Basak San Nicolas, Sitio Panting in Barangay San Roque and Sitio Ipil in Barangay Mambaling.

Teresita Daligdig, 53, a housewife with two kids, was happy to find potable water supply within the St. Arnold Janssen Chapel in Sitio Lusimba.

She said they no longer receive free bottled water from donors. They have been in the evacuation site since Nov. 1.

Another fire hit a residential area in Sitio Panting, Barangay San Roque on Nov. 3.

Some 130 families were displaced and are staying at the San Roque Gym.

MCWD has installed a faucet outside the gym.

Sam Cortes, 19, a senior high school student, was thankful and said this could ease their discomfort. Water is important for their everyday needs, she said, especially for students like her who have to attend classes despite losing their homes.

MCWD provides fire survivors with free water for 30 days upon installation to help address their need for clean water supply. PR
