CHRISTMAS in SM City Cagayan de Oro has never been this sweet and colorful as the mall finally unveiled its Christmas centerpiece: the Sugartown Christmas, last Saturday, November 9.

With its pink accents and huge sugary treats, SM uptown’s centerpiece looks like a sweet house that came out of the fairy tale Hansel and Gretel.

“Our centerpiece boasts of candy-inspired sugar houses and giant candy trees signifying the sweetest Christmas at the heart of uptown,” SM City Cagayan de Oro mall manager Bernadette Flores said.

Last Saturday’s Christmas launch was graced by 2018 Little Miss World Philippines Exin Guingao and SM Little Star 2019 grand finalist Caleb Hans Ong who both wore candy-themed costumes as they portray the roles of Candy and Chocolate, respectively.

Students of Little Me Academy and Dire Husi Children’s Choir performed prior to the unveiling of the centerpiece. Santa Claus and his elves were also present to bring joy and fun to the audience.

“Christmas is truly the brightest and happiest time of the year. From dining to gift shopping, or enjoying fun experiences - for 61 years - SM has witnessed every Filipino family’ s milestones and celebrations,” Flores said.

“This year, we bring you #SparklingSMallidays as we officially unwrap a host of fun-filled activities, dazzling displays, exciting deals, and thrilling surprises to light up the lives of everyone this holiday season. Kids and kids-at-heart get to meet, greet and take photos with SM Santa,” she added.

As part of their Christmas activities, SM City Cagayan de Oro will be having the Christmas Markets where mall shoppers will be able to find a wide selection of items for their gift-shopping needs.

There will also be Christmas Parades and captivating Holiday Light Shows from November 17 to December 30.

The Sugartown Christmas centerpiece, on the other hand, will be in the mall until December 31.

The ballpit, which was near the centerpiece during the centerpiece’s unveiling, will be transferred to the second floor and be made available for children to play with until December 31.

“In the spirit of a brighter Christmas, we would like to thank you all for celebrating the most wonderful time of the year with us, as we aim to add sparkle to everyone’ s lives this holiday season and into 2020,” Flores said.
