Bornea makes US debut in 2020

INTERNATIONAL Boxing Federation (IBF) No. 12 rated super flyweight Jade Bornea will face Filipino-American Ernesto Delgadillo for the vacant North American Boxing Federation (NABF) superflyweight belt on Jan. 9, 2020 in Toppenish, Washington.

The 24-year-old Bornea will be making his US debut.

The General Santos City-native Bornea has held two regional belts–the International Boxing Federation (IBF) Youth super flyweight and World Boxing Organization (WBO) Oriental Youth super flyweight straps.

Bornea won the WBO belt in 2017 with a unanimous decision over fellow prospect Raul Yu. He added the other belt the following year with a unanimous decision over Danrick Sumabong.

Bornea just fought once in 2019. He won via second round stoppage of Jonathan Franciso.

Meanwhile, Delgadillo is a World Boxing Council (WBC) United States super flyweight champion.

Delgadillo won the WBC belt in 2017 with a unanimous decision over the determined Bryan Aquino.

He successfully defended his belt twice with a split decision over Oscar Mojica and a unanimous decision over Nate Green.

Bornea, who fights out of the Sanman Gym, is 14-0 with 10 knockouts, while the 25-year-old Delgadillo is 11-0-2 with two knockouts. (EKA)
