Man killed, another wounded in Bacolod shooting

A MAN was killed while his common-law wife was injured in a shooting incident in Purok Kagaykay, Barangay 2, Bacolod City Monday evening, November 11.

Police identified the fatality as Paul Masicampo, of Barangay 3 while his common-law wife Tintin Tipon, of Barangay 4, was injured.

Police Major Sherlock Gabana, chief of Police Station 2, said Tuesday that Masicampo and his common-law wife were on their way home at about 8:10 p.m. when two unidentified assailants, who were wearing masks, on board a motorcycle fired at them and fled.

Masicampo sustained multiple gunshot wounds and died on the spot while Tipon was brought to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital.

Police recovered from scene of the crime five cartridges and three slugs of unidentified firearm.

Gabana said they are eyeing illegal drugs as possible motive behind the killing of the victim because Masicampo was also included on their list for monitoring and validation.

He said in previous months, unidentified men also tried to kill Masicampo after he failed to remit his income on illegal drugs.

He added they are still conducting further investigation to identify and arrest the suspects. (MAP)
