CEBUANO guard Joseph Airo Nalos nailed a two-pointer with just a second remaining to push the Bataan Risers to a come-from-behind 77-76 win over the Pampanga Lanterns in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Lakan Season at the Marikina Sports Complex on Tuesday, November 12, 2019.
Down by one after Pampanga’s Dexter Maiquez scored on a short stab, Bataan appeared headed for destruction when Jose Presbitero lost the ball to Lanterns’ guard Mark Cruz.
However, the Risers got a glimmer of hope as Cruz decided to rush things and missed his lay-up.
With time winding down, Presbitero drove down the lane and passed the ball to an open Nalos who swished in the winning jumper with just a second left in the game.
That was Nalos’ only basket in the game, but it was enough to help Bataan improve to 13-8 (win-loss).
Byron Villarias led Bataan with 20 points, six rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks while former University of Cebu Webmasters big man Alfred Batino had 16 points and 10 rebounds. (JNP)
