'Ramon' now a tropical storm; parts of Luzon, Visayas under signal no. 1

THE weather bureau placed parts of Luzon and the Visayas under alert status as Tropical Depression Ramon intensified into a tropical storm.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1 is raised over Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, Eastern and Northern Samar.

Pagasa advised the public that sea travel is risky especially for small sea crafts of areas under TCWS, the seaboards of Northern Luzon, and the eastern seaboards of Central and Southern Luzon.

At 10 a.m. Wednesday, the center of Tropical Storm Ramon was spotted 385 km east northeast of Borongan City, Eastern Samar.

"Ramon" has sustained winds of 65 km/h near the center and gusts up to 80 km/h. Tropical Storm Ramon is forecast to move 180 km east northeast of Virac, Catanduanes Thursday, November 14.

Pagasa added "Ramon" is expected to stay in the country until Monday, November 18. (SunStar Philippines)
