2 nabbed, P700,000 'shabu' seized in anti-drug sting

A STREET food vendor and her nephew were caught in possession of an estimated P700,000 worth of substance believed to be shabu in an anti-drug operation in an east coast village of Zamboanga City.

Police Captain Edwin Duco, Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) information officer, identified the arrested suspects as Karsum Baddirie, 41, and her nephew, Bandoy Sarih, 28.

Duco said the two were arrested in a drug bust around 4:45 p.m. Tuesday at Block 2,000 in the village of Mampang, east of Zamboanga City.

Confiscated from the suspects were the P700,000 worth of substance believed to be shabu packed in four heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets and marked money.

Duco said the operatives of the Station Drug Enforcement Team of ZCPO's Police Station 10 launched the operation following days of surveillance on the illegal activities of the suspects.

He said the suspects were detained pending the filing of formal charges against them. (SunStar Zamboanga)
