Investigators to invite cop in pregnant teen’s case

AN OFFICIAL of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo) said they are set to invite Police Major Albart Tare to inquire about the complaint lodged by the pregnant teenager who was shot after attending a court proceeding, Tuesday, November 12.

Cocpo spokesperson Major Ivan Viñas said the inquiry is for investigators to learn about the facts of the act of lasciviousness case filed by the victim against her former employer.

“Ga-focus ta about sa sumbong niya sa iyang former boss,” Viñas said.

Major Ian Borinaga, Police Station 4-Carmen chief, said they are gathering documents to find out the circumstances of the case.

“Para mahibal-an namo ngano ni crop up ang name ni Major Tare, unsa ang ugat, nag-gather pami ug documents,” he said.

(So that we would know why Major Tare’s name cropped up, what started it, we are gathering documents)

Borinaga said they have yet to identify the motorcycle-riding assailants who shot the victim, pointing out that the security camera footage which captured the shooting incident is of poor quality.

Case investigator Senior Sergeant Jordan Sandalo said they are seeking the assistance of the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group to enhance the quality of the CCTV footage.

Sandalo said they are also still reaching out to the victim’s family who is hesitant to give their statement.

The victim, who is five months pregnant, is still under observation at the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC).

The victim along with her relatives were then waiting for a ride across the Hall of Justice on Mastersons Avenue, Upper Carmen, when the suspects shot her.

Witnesses said the two unidentified gunmen were wearing pink t-shirt (driver) while the other wore dark colored shirts. Both wore helmets riding on an MC Honda XRM 125 with black and red combination, without plate number and fled towards the city proper.

Evidence collected from the crime scene were 2 empty fired cartridge cases of a caliber .45 pistol.
