P35,000 ‘shabu’ seized in Barangay 2

AN ESTIMATED P35,000 worth of suspected “shabu” (methamphetamine hydrochloride) was seized in a drug bust by operatives of Police Station 8 at Purok Tahong, Barangay 2, Bacolod City Tuesday evening, November 12.

The operation also led to the arrest of Jenny Rose Jimena, 30, and her companion Jared Ascura, 26, both residents of Barangay 2.

Police Major Charles Gever, chief of Police Station 8, said yesterday Jimena and her companion were arrested after they sold a sachet of suspected shabu to a police undercover at about 10:30 p.m.

Police recovered from the suspects’ possession eight sachets of suspected shabu, and the P500 marked money.

Gever said Jimena, who was under surveillance for almost a week, has a supplier of illegal drugs in Bacolod, but she refused to divulge further information.

He said Ascura also served as her assistance to dispose the illegal drugs in various areas of Bacolod.

He added that most of Jimena’s customers used to visit her house and took the items.

The suspects are detained at the custodial facility of Police Station 8 and are facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (MAP)
