THE family of the suspect who abducted the 17-day-old baby boy turned over the baby to his mother at Police Station 1 in Bacolod City Tuesday evening, November 12.
Police identified the suspect as Angelie Gonzales, 23, of Hacienda Delfuego II, Barangay Dos Hermanas, Talisay City, who is still at-large.
Police Major Jovil Sedel, chief of Police Station 1, said Wednesday the baby boy was turned over by the suspect’s siblings Hernida Gareza and Michael Robles to Police Station 1 at about 9:45 p.m.
Sedel said the suspect’s siblings revealed that Gonzales was suffering from nervous breakdown after she had a miscarriage four months ago.
He said on Monday, Gonzales was also in Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) for her check-up where she met the mother of the baby boy Mary Grace Goto, 24, of Hacienda Teresita, Barangay Granada, Bacolod City.
He added that around 5 p.m., Gonzales went home to her mother’s house in Talisay City with the baby and told her mother that she only borrowed the baby from her friend.
The suspect’s mother was also wondering why she borrowed the baby so she called the assistance of her other daughter, Gareza, who was staying in Bacolod. They found out that the baby boy who was reported abducted in Bacolod was the same baby with Gonzales.
The suspect’s siblings told Gonzales to return the baby to his mother where she also agreed, but when they were about to travel to Bacolod Police Station 1 Gonzales ran away.
On Monday, the victim brought her son to the CLMMRH for a check-up where she met the suspect. The suspect introduced herself to the victim as her relative and she was convinced to go with her to a mall for a hair treatment until they reached the salon at San Juan-Luzuriaga streets.
The suspect persuaded Goto that she will pay for the latter’s hair treatment. Goto also allowed the suspect to carry her baby while she was inside the salon.
After several minutes, the suspect told Goto that she will buy food bringing along the baby, but after an hour, the suspect failed to return and Goto immediately sought police assistance.
Sedel said the baby is in good health since the family of the suspect also bought some milk, diaper, blanket and pillow. They also gave him a name of Carlos John.
He said they immediately contacted the family of the baby and the latter was turned over to his mother, father, grandmother, and aunt.
He added that Goto is also thankful to the family of the suspect for returning her baby and they agreed not to file case against Gonzales.
