SRP to be closed for 30th SEA Games torch relay

THERE will be a 6-hour road closure of the southbound lane of the South Road Properties (SRP) on Saturday, November 16, to give way for the Cebu leg of the 30th SEA Games Torch Run.

The road closure will start at 2:00 in the afternoon from the corner of F. Vestil St. fronting SM Seaside up to the boundary bridge between the cities of Cebu and Talisay.

It will last until 7:30 in the evening or once the event will be finished.

Half of the Cebu South Coastal Road (CSCR) or the northbound lane shall be utilized as a two-way road to give way to motorists going to Cebu City and Southern Cebu.

"Entry of the vehicles from South Coastal Road going to the U-Turn slot below the bridge (Talisay boundary) shall also be prohibited," according to Cebu City Transportation Office in their press release dated Nov.13, 2019.

CCTO will deploy 31 traffic personnel who will help with the traffic flow of the said event.

This momentous event will cover 6,000 runners who will run the 5-kilometer stretch and will be joined by 10 torchbearers such as athletes, Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella, and Presidential Assistant for the Visayas Michael Dino.

The 5-km. run will be participated in by students, policemen, army, and government employees.

Gun-start will be at 5 p.m. and will be followed by a short lighting ceremony and program at SM Seaside City Cebu.

The 30th SEA Games scheduled from Nov. 30 to Dec.11 will be joined by 11 nations - Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor Leste and Vietnam.

A total of 56 sports competitions will be spread over four venue clusters in Clark, Subic, Manila and Tagaytay. (PR)
