FOUR cadets of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) are facing criminal charges for violation of the anti-hazing law.

Cadets 3rd class Jovan Sernat, Aaron Dahryl Villanueva and Paul Birung, and cadet 2nd class Clarence Cabucos were allegedly involved in the physical abuse of cadet 4th class John Rafael Desiderio.

Cavite Police Provincial Director Marlon Santos said charges for the violation of the Republic Act 11053, also known as the anti-hazing law, were filed against the four cadets before Assistant Provincial Prosecutor Emmanuel L. Rivera at the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor in Imus City, Cavite.

Desiderio was rushed to the hospital on October 29, 2019 for stomach pain. He has been discharged.

The charges were made on the heels of the death of cadet 4th class Darwin Dormitorio at the Philippine Military Academy from injuries caused by hazing.

Several other PMA cadets were also brought to the military hospital because of injuries caused by suspected maltreatment. (Third Anne Peralta-Malonzo/SunStar Philippines)
