OUTDOOR-loving Cebuanos and tourists alike can regularly be found relishing the views from as high as Osmeña Peak, or enjoying the company of thresher sharks in the depths of Malapascua’s waters. This needs gear that can keep up with the demands of an adventurous lifestyle, one of the most important being a reliable timepiece.

It made perfect sense to Seiko Prospex to open its first-ever boutique outside of Japan here in Cebu, where fast-paced urban living and several ways to enjoy nature meet. The first Seiko Prospex boutique just opened in Ginza, Japan in August. Prospex is Seiko’s functional and stylish timepiece collection, originating from Seiko’s introduction of the first diver’s watch in Japan in 1965.

Last month’s opening of the Seiko Prospex boutique on the second floor of Ayala Center Cebu was led by Timeplus Corporation vice president and digital marketing officer Edric Dy, Timeplus Corporation president Karl Dy, Seiko Watch Corporation director and senior vice president Yoshikatsu Kawada, and Hana Harada of Seiko Prospex management planning. The boutique was officially opened with a ribbon cutting ceremony, and a Japanese sake barrel-breaking to commemorate the event.

“Cebu is a great stop for marine enthusiasts,” said Kawada of the new store’s location and concept, which encourages clients to try on the watches. “We invite customers not only to look at the products, but experience Seiko Prospex.”
