Undernourished kids, pregnant women benefit from feeding program

MABALACAT CITY -- Scores of undernourished children and pregnant women from a slum area in Barangay Mabiga benefited from a supplemental feeding program implemented by the City Government's nutrition office.

Personnel from the City Nutrition Office (CNO), led by CNO action officer Joronny Gladys Lingat, conducted a follow-up feeding in Sitio Maligaya in Barangay Mabiga recently.

It was in line with the program of Mayor Cris Garbo and the CNO dubbed Dietary Supplementation for Underweight Children and Pregnant Women.

The residents received nutritious meals from the local government.

Garbo the supplemental feeding is a continuing program of the City Government to help his indigent constituents.

The aggressive and controlled measure is aimed to lessen specific micronutrients deficiency among the youth and gestating women.

The program also includes monitoring to fortify beneficiaries' food intake with additional essential micronutrients in compliance with the mayor's ongoing nutritional intervention program.

The CNO regularly conducts Dietary Supplementation for Underweight Children and Pregnant Women for 120 days where participants are given well-balanced meals with Micronutrient Supplementation.
