Araw Tenpin Classic rolls off

JOHN Galendez topped the eight-game elimination series among other Davao City players who started their campaign on Thursday night in the 5th Datba Araw ng Dabaw Classic Tenpin Open, which was set to formally open Friday night.

Galendez garnered an average of 209, including handicap, while Vic Te placed second with 206 followed by Art Galendez (199), Joshua Disuacido (199) and Sammy Talaboc (196) in third, fourth and fifth, respectively.

But Manila, Cavite and Cebu players might still come out with better records when they open their bid Friday night.

Only the top 25 will enter the next round where the No. 1 bowler will gain the twice-to-beat advantage, while the next 24 will play eight more games to determine the other three who will join the top player in the step-the-ladder final round.

At stake is P30,000 for the champion, P20,000 for the runner-up, P10,000 for the third placer and P5,000 to the fourth-placer.

The fifth to seventh placers will also receive P2,000, while the eighth to 13th placers will claim P1,000 and the 14th to 25th placers will get P500.

Creatively-designed trophies will also be awarded to the winners of the Philippine Bowling Congress (PBC)-meet that is supported by Mayor Rodrigo and Vice Mayor Inday Sara Duterte, in coordination with the Sports Development Division of the City Mayor's Office.
