Keenly-awaited Bulua Fiesta ‘Futsal Festival’

THE futsal ladies-powered Xavier University High School and the St. Mary’s School of Macasandig, beefed up by the equally-talented Higala FC girls, are among the early entries in the Pinay In Action (PIA) Bulua Fiesta Futsal Festival set on November 30 to December 1 at Bulua National High School covered court, Cagayan de Oro City.

The XU High School ladies of coach Dhon Lazo and the Higala FC girls of coach Cabio are entered in the Girls 17 category of the Senator Pia Cayetano-sponsored event for promising lady footballers in the locality.

Both teams have met in the championship of the Cagayan de Oro DepEd Division meet with the Higala Girls winning the right to represent Cagayan de Oro in the Regional meet the sleepy town of Tubod, Lanao del Norte will be hosting early next month.

Also included among the early birds in Girls 17 category are Iligan Medical College of coach Allan Aberilla, La Salle Iligan, Bulua Strikers FC of coach Junieto Actub, Golden Friendship FC of coach Marlon Merlin, and D’ Miller’s FC of coach Jason Andagan.

Six teams have so far signed up in the Women’s Open category.

They are the XU Crusaders, Iligan Medical College, Rosevale School FC, Iligan City FC, Higala FC, and Bulua Strikers FC.

Four teams have registered in the Girls 14 (2005) such as the Bulua Strikers FC, Higala FC, Iligan Medical Center College and the Golden Friendship FC. While the Lumbia Raptors FC, Bulua Strikers FC, Georgia Academy and Golden Friendship FC are listed in the Girls 12 level (2007).

Only 10 teams are welcome in the Women’s Open and Girls 17 categories. Walk-in entries will not be entertained, even as the deadline for submission of entries will be on November 23 during the coaches meeting.

The venue will be announced later.

The tournament is supported by the MOCGESCO RFA, the Bulua SK Council Chairman Sean Llyod Candia, Bulua Chairman Al P. Legaspi, Bulua NHS officials led by principal Dr. Minda Rebolido, and assistant principal Dr. Roy Lumban for the benefit of Bulua Strikers FC.

It also has the support of Pinoyfootball.com. with Sunsport as the official Futsal ball.
