NBI-NorMin to handle probe in pregnant teen slay try

THE National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in Northern Mindanao is set to take over the investigation in the attempt on the life of a 16-year-old pregnant girl who was shot after attending a court proceeding across the Hall of Justice in Upper Carmen, Cagayan de Oro City, on November 12.

Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo) spokesperson Major Ivan Viñas said the family of the victim requested the transfer of investigation since one of the persons being investigated is a police officer.

“Gi-transfer dili ingon nga dili kaya sa police, respeto nalang sa partido sa biktima. Labina usa ang police sa ilang gidudahan, so out of delicadeza nalang,” Viñas said.

However, Viñas assured that Cocpo will continue to assist and collaborate with the NBI to fast-track the probe.

Police have yet to identify the motorcycle-riding assailants. The victim, on the other hand, is still recuperating at the hospital.

That day, the victim came from the arraignment for acts of lasciviousness case she filed against her former employer, Police Major Albart Tare.

Meanwhile, Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao director Brigadier General Rolando Anduyan welcomes the move to transfer the investigation to the NBI-Northern Mindanao to ensure there will be no whitewash.

Anduyan added that immediately after the shooting, Tare was placed under restrictive custody.

“Under investigation siya, naa man hinuon due process. Kung naay affidavit against him, dili gyud namo pabor-paboran among sakop kay gusto namo nga let the justice flow naturally. We don’t tolerate, kinahanglan i-apply ang balaod,” Anduyan said.

“Open ta tanan, mas gwapo na nga naay lain agency mag-imbistiga kay muingon sila inyo man ng kadugo, basin naay whitewash ba so we encourage kanang lain nga agency to step into the investigation para ang katawhan walay duda,” he added.
