Philarmonic Orchestra to highlight centennial celebration of Aklan town

THE Philippine Philarmonic Orchestra was invited to highlight the five-month celebration of the Balete town in the eastern district of the province of Aklan.

Vice Governor Reynaldo Quimpo said that the Philippine Philarmonic Orchestra is expected to perform here on November 30 to December 2. Quimpo’s wife, former congresswoman Gabrielle Calizo-Quimpo hailed from the town of Balete.

The local government of Balete opt to celebrate its centennial anniversary despite the unclear history on the foundation of their town. The word came from an enchanted tree.

“Aside from performing a concert dubbed as ‘An Enchanting Evening in Balete’ on December 1 at 6 p.m. for free, the group will also stage free mentoring program for interested local ensembles and musical enthusiasts in the province,” said Quimpo.

The mentoring workshop will be done at the Infant Jesus Academy classrooms in Kalibo, Aklan on November 30.

“This event will be made possible through the Cultural Center of the Philippines and Deputy Speaker Legarda, representative of the province of Antique,” Quimpo said.

The concert will be staged at the Civic and Cultural Center of Balete.
