CEBU. Cesafi commissioner Felix Tiukinhuy has announced that students of Cesafi member schools can watch the finals from the general admission section for free.

STUDENTS of all member schools of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) will be able to watch the finals of both the high school and collegiate basketball tournaments at the Cebu Coliseum from the general admission section for free on Monday, November 18, 2019.

The announcement was made by league commissioner Felix Tiukinhoy through the initiative of Talisay City Mayor and University of the Visayas Green Lancers team manager, Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas.

According to Gullas, this was his way of rekindling the storied rivalry between UV and Southwestern University-Phinma.

“So I just talked to SWU management through Sir Gilbert Braganza. Asked for his opinion regarding something I’d like to bring up to Cesafi commissioner, Felix Tuikinhoy,” said Gullas on his post on Facebook.

“I asked boss Gilbert that UV and SWU share a very deep history. I remember the days when I was a kid when UV and SWU games would fill the gymnasiums even on elimination games. I even remember a player named ‘Natak’ break the hearts of the UV Lancers with a big 3 pointer during nationals. I remember then player and now coach Gary Cortes play against the SWU Cobras To cut the story short I asked the permission of SWU to personally ask Commissioner Tiukinhoy to rekindle the UV-SWU rivalry, especially for the Cesafi finals.

“So I called boss Tiukinhoy that UV and SWU is personally asking him na e-libre ang general admission for the finals kay I believe both schools share a deep history and very passionate fans. I’d like to thank Boss Tiuki for his decision. He said: ‘Libre nato all students of all Cesafi schools sa general admission if they show their IDs for Game 1 Monday," he said.

Game 1 of the best-of-three finals in the high school and college divisions is Monday with tip-off set at 5 p.m.
