FIVE pimps were arrested while eight women were rescued by Talisay police during an entrapment operation in Sitio Sangi, Barangay Tabunok, Talisay City at 3:30 am on Sunday, November 17, 2019.
The suspects were identified as Jessica Sodareo, 49, Diome Mission, 50, both residents of Barangay Lagtang, Talisay City; Danilo Bangkaya, 60, of Dawis Ramona, Talisay City; Raul Barcosa, 46, of Barangay Pardo, Cebu City; and Reno Diacamos, 34, of Barangay Lipata, Minglanilla town.
Police Major Gerard Ace Pelare, chief of Talisay City Police Station, said they received reports from concerned citizens of the widespread prostitution in the area.
Based on initial reports, the flesh trade around the area is nothing new.
The Women's and Children Protection Desk, together with the Talisay City Social Welfare, led the operation and arrested the five pimps.
The suspects have been detained at the Talisay City detention cell and will face charges for violation of RA 9208 or the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003. (FMD/JGS)
