CLARK FREEPORT -- A shopping mall in Olongapo City held its first medical mission last week.

SM Olongapo Central conducted its first medical, dental, and diagnostics mission on November 15 through the SM Foundation Inc., the charity arm of SM Supermalls.

Dubbed as "Gamot Para sa Kapwa," SM Foundation provided services to 1,403 patients such as medical check-up, dental check-up, blood test, ECG, x-ray, eye check-up with free reading glasses and laboratory tests.

Aside from the medical services, free medicines for common illnesses and vitamins were also distributed to patients.

The foundation has been known for providing aid to indigent families.

Partner government agencies and private organizations during the medical mission included the City Health Office, Olongapo City Medical Society, James L. Gordon Memorial Hospital and Olongapo City Dental Chapter.

The medical mission was also supported by the local government of Olongapo, City Social Welfare and Development Office, Barangay Pagasa, Barangay East Tapinac, Ideal Vision and Metro Subic College.

This is the second medical mission this year for Olongapo City. The first one was held in SM City Olongapo Downtown on July 24, 2019.

The SM Foundation's "Gamot Para sa Kapwa" is a yearly activity in all provincial malls and its barangay health center counterpart, the Felicidad T. Sy Wellness Center.
