Oro road clearing team to focus on national highway

THE road clearing team of Cagayan de Oro will now embark into clearing the national highway of obstructions even if clearing operations in the villages are not yet completed.

However, City Administrator Teddy Sabuga-a urged barangay officials to continue their own clearing operations, with or without assistance from the city government.

Once national roads are cleared, he said, the team will continue clearing barangay roads of obstructions.

Sabuga-a said this as a new strategy for a more efficient road clearing campaign.

He explained that the city's composite team will focus its manpower in clearing national roads and highways of obstructions.

The change of strategy, he said, is part of the city and Department of Public Works and Highways's (DPWH) plan to prioritize national roads.

"Kinahanglan this time, we need to strategize kay dili ta gakahuman. Nakita man nato nga ang national roads, gamay lang, so why not let us focus in national roads para mahuman ta diha then we can focus to other areas," Sabuga-a said.

Since July, the city is clearing roads based on the barangay's requests and roads identified as strategic.

Road clearing in national roads is set to be finished before the month ends.
