THE Department of Education (DepEd) Central Visayas will conduct its own probe on the allegation that a 15-year-old public school student raped a 17-year-old girl in Minglanilla, Cebu.

Amaryllis Villarmia, DepEd 7 information officer , said they will look into the matter and verify if the minors involved are students of one of the public schools in the region.

Police nabbed a 15-year-old boy accused of raping a 17-year-old girl in Barangay Tulay, Minglanilla, last Saturday, Nov. 16, 2019.

Police Senior Master Sergeant Dante Valiente, desk officer of Minglanilla Police Station, said the victim and suspect first became friends through Facebook.

Two days after they became friends on social media, on Friday, Nov. 15, the two decided to meet at the victim’s residence where the alleged rape happened.

The suspect, however, denied he raped the victim.

Villarmia called upon the public to refrain from giving opinionated comments against the minors involved and their family. She also called on the parents to monitor the activities of their children.(SunStar Cebu)
