Yasay questions appointment of Mugot as acting vice guv

MISAMIS Oriental Board Member Dexter Yasay has questioned the memorandum issued by Vice Governor Jeremy Jonahmar “Jigjag” Pelaez designating fellow Board Member Jessa Mugot as the acting vice governor when Governor Yevgeny Emano was out of country.

Emano appointed Pelaez as the acting governor when he and some board members were out on a business trip in Vietnam on November 4.

Yasay said Board Member Wayne Militante should have taken over the vice governor’s post by rule of succession. He said Militante got the highest number of votes in the last election.

“I would like just to clarify why you issued a memorandum designating Jessa Mugot as the vice governor. You don’t have the authority as far as I can recall, as far as practice of assumption of office by succession is concerned,” Yasay said.

“Ang ako lang vice guv, just to be blunt, to be clear, I heard that there are some documents that has been signed by Board Member Jessa Mugot, especially the midyear bonus and I think it is not within her authority,” he added.

Pelaez, for his part, said he was confused as to who between board members Saysay Emano and Militante is the number one provincial board member.

“Dili nako mahibaw-an kon kinsa number nila between Board Member Saysay Emano ug Board Member Wayne Militante. Remember nga we have two districts, may number one sa first district naa pud number one sa second district,” Pelaez said.

“Kung imo tan-awon ang number one sa second district, mas labaw siya’g nakuha nga numbero kaysa sa number one sa first district,” he added.

Pelaez added that he will have to ask the Department of the Interior and Local Government regarding the issue.
