Zamboanga mayor rallies support on children's rights

MAYOR Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar rallied the support of local government executives in Zamboanga Peninsula for the protection of the rights of children in their respective localities.

Salazar made the call at the recently held Regional Awarding Ceremony for the Seal of Child Friendly Local Governance 2018 by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) regional office with Zamboanga City as one of the consistent awardees for its efforts on child protection and welfare.

"We should all work hard so that the rights of children are protected," Salazar said before other local government unit executives and representatives from all over the region.

She also took pride in saying that the voices of young children are very important to her administration, giving Zamboanga City the opportunity to represent the Philippines in the recently concluded United Nations Convention on the Rights of Children in Germany.

Zamboanga City has also a partnership with the United Nations Children's Fund (Unicef) to keep children safe in terms of road safety and infrastructures. (SunStar Zamboanga)
