Villar inspects P59-M projects in Camp Tecson

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Public Works Secretary Mark Villar inspected the P59 million worth of projects under construction inside Camp Tecson, San Miguel, Bulacan.

The projects are under the Department of National Defense-Department of Public Works and Highways (DND-DPWH) Convergence Projects or the “Tatag ng Imprastraktura para sa Kapayapaan at Seguridad” (Tikas).

The P59 million includes four projects in various stages of implementation. The DPWH-Central Luzon, in a statement, said six projects amounting to P83 million will be undertaken in FY 2020 as part of the government’s continuous support to the soldiers.

The DPWH said that Villar emphasized that these projects are part of the government’s effort to the modernization of the First Scout Ranger Regiment (FSRR) of the Philippine Army Special Operations Command, a unit specializing in anti-guerrilla jungle warfare, raids, ambushes, close quarters combat, urban warfare and sabotage.

“There is an urgent need to equip the FSRR’s training school by constructing new facilities such as a multi-purpose building and transient quarters will certainly boost the morale of our soldiers undergoing training here in Camp Tecson,” Villar said.

The DPWH said that the improvements undertaken by the Bulacan 2nd DEO are the improvement and asphalt overlay of the camp’s perimeter road and the construction of a clubhouse.

The DPWH press release also said that Regional Director Roseller A. Tolentino, in citing the report of District Engineer Ramiro Cruz said that the construction of an Administrative/Battalion Liaison Office Building, said that additional motor pool with vehicle repair shop, barracks and a multi-purpose center is set to be completed next year.
