THE suspect in the rape of a 13-year-old girl in Cadiz City earlier this month was arrested late Tuesday night, November 19, in a successful police operation in his hiding place in Barangay Zone 3, Talisay City.
Police identified the suspect as Marlon Beboso, 23, a native of Barotac Viejo in Iloilo.
Based on information given by both the Cadiz City and Talisay City police stations, the suspect was tagged as considered a serial rapist as he also had two other sexual assault cases in Barotac Viejo and in Kabankalan City.
Beboso also has a pending warrant of arrest of rape with sexual assault in Iloilo.
A further review of the suspect’s background also determined that he has a criminal complaint for theft in Kabankalan City.
On November 11, Beboso allegedly struck a 13-year-old girl in the head and sexually assaulted her at a sugarcane field in Cadiz City.
The victim survived and was rushed to a hospital in Bacolod City.
A medical examination of the victim later showed that she had no lacerations, however, they discovered seminal fluid in her genitalia.
Police were later able to track down Beboso’s whereabouts and both the Talisay City and Cadiz City Police Stations served the suspect’s arrest warrant.
In a follow-up interview with the suspect, Beboso denied the rape allegations, claiming that he and the victim were riding in his motorcycle when they accidentally fell over causing the victim to hit her head.
As the victim was bleeding in the head, and due to fear he dragged the victim to the sugarcane field instead of bringing her to the hospital.
The victim, whose identity has been withheld, confirmed that Beboso hit her in the head multiple times, after which she was stripped by the suspect and was raped.
The victim is still confined at an undisclosed hospital in Bacolod City, while the suspect is presently detained at the Talisay City Police Station. (TDE)
