CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Governor Dennis Pineda inaugurated a two-story four-classroom building in Lourdes Elementary School in Minalin town on Wednesday, November 20.

The governor was joined by Pampanga Mayor’s League (PML) president Mayor Edgardo Flores, Board Member Nelson Calara, Lourdes village Captain Bong Fabia, town and village council members during the inauguration ceremony according to a report by the Provincial Information Office (PIO).

Pineda said the realization of the project is part of the commitment of the provincial government in nurturing and molding the future of the young Minaleños, the PIO said.

“Do not thank me for this project, because this is my obligation and responsibility that I have once sworn before you. I am just providing you the things that you deserve,” Governor Pineda told local officials, teachers and parents.

Flores, meanwhile, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the governor for the assistance which was given to the school community, according to the PIO.

“This day is a blessing to all Minalenos. I saw the light while looking at the parents, teachers, and barangay officials here. We are all happy, that’s why I want to thank you Gov (Governor Delta) for your continuous support to the people of Minalin. Through this project, a lot of students and teachers will be motivated to study and teach well,” Flores said.

Flores shared that the provincial government provided full subsidy for the completion of the said school building, including its facilities and other equipment.

At present, there are over 975 students studying in Lourdes Elementary School.

According to Julius Lagazon, principal of the said school, the new school building would help them address classroom shortage due to growing population of students here.

“We are thankful to Governor Pineda for this blessing. As you can see, our old buildings are already dilapidated. A lot of our ancillaries were converted into academic buildings. But with the help of our new building, classroom decongestion in our school will be addressed and 200 more students will be given more learning spaces,” Lagazon said.

Governor Pineda also pledged to fund the proposed road construction in front of the school community to provide relief to students and teachers.

“I already talked to Mayor Flores, we have funds from DILG. I’ll make it as one of my priorities next year,” the governor said.
