Barmm sets up public assistance center

THE Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Barmm) launched Friday, November 22, the Bangsamoro People’s Center to provide its constituents easy access to the programs and services of the regional government.

The establishment of the center is part of the Ministry of Interior and Local Government’s (MILG-Barmm) initiatives in bringing the Bangsamoro Government closer to the people.

Lawyer Naguib Sinarimbo, MILG-Barmm minister, said the center will cater to the needs of the Bangsamoro people, especially those not working in the bureaucracy.

The center is located inside the Bangsamoro Government’s Center in Cotabato City and is open to the public between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday.

Sinarimbo said one of the center’s purpose is to assist those who have official transactions with the other Bangsamoro Government’s ministries and offices but are not familiar with the Bangsamoro Government Center.

“We have assigned staff who will accompany and guide them where the office is located,” Sinarimbo said, adding it is to avoid the inconvenience of being tossed from one office to the other.

Bangsamoro Chief Minister Ahod Al Haj Murad Ebrahim, together with Sinarimbo, led the launching of the people’s center.

“We need to widen also the space where we can talk to our people, so baka later on we can establish a wider people’s center so that everybody will be accommodated,” Ebrahim said citing the opening of the center is just an initial effort of the MILG.

Meanwhile, Sinarimbo announced that they plan to move towards E-Governance.

Sinarimbo said e-governance means using technology to strengthen the relationship between the government and its people.

Sinarimbo said those barangay captains in the far-flung municipalities of the Bangsamoro region who needs certificate of recognition may send their queries online.

“There will no longer spend to come to the office, you can send it to us online,” he added. (SunStar Zamboanga)
