CCMC patients will soon have quicker access to PCSO programs

THE Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC) is set to put up a “One-Stop Shop” for patients who want to avail themselves of medical and financial assistance after the City approved a deal with the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) to implement some of its programs there.

Aside from CCMC’s Individual Medical Assistance program (Imap), the PCSO’s At Source Ang Processing (Asap) program could help patients and their relatives get assistance for their medical needs.

Rey Gealon, Cebu City Attorney, said Asap will soon be available at the CCMC after he recommended the approval of a proposed memorandum of agreement between the hospital and the PCSO.

The PCSO’s Asap program aims to address the long lines at PCSO offices, long lead time for interview and timeliness of assistance and allow patients to avail themselves of their services in partner hospitals.

Yvonne Feliciano, CCMC administrator, said the patients will have easier access to the benefits under Imap since they will be putting up a PCSO desk in the hospital.

Once the program will be implemented by the CCMC, the hospital’s social service office will be the one to conduct patient interviews and establish eligibility using the PCSO Classification System.

The information of the patient will then be transmitted to the PCSO for recommendation and approval.

If CCMC will start implementing Asap, it will be easier for patients to access benefits under the Imap, Feliciano said.

The program covers the cost of hospitalization, medicines, medical supplies, diagnostic procedures and chemotherapy drugs, among others.

Feliciano said all indigent patients and voters of Cebu City can benefit from the program.

Some of the requirements include the original copy of the statement of account, endorsement from the Medical Social Services, prescription and certification of PhilHealth membership, among others.

Gealon said the Cebu City Council has to secure a resolution authorizing Mayor Edgardo Labella to sign the MOA. JJL
