Taxi driver shot dead

A TAXI driver was found dead Friday morning in Zone 5, Barra, Opol, Misamis Oriental.

Police Inspector Rafael Roxas of the Scene of the Crime Operatives (Soco) identified the victim as Danilo Fortunado Odaen, 31, married and a resident of Zone 7, Phase 2, Villa Candida Subdivision in Barangay Bulua, this city.

Roxas said before the incident, the victim received a phone call from a costumer asking the driver to fetch him at Zone 5 in Barra, Opol.

However, Roxas said upon reaching the place, the victim was shot by an unidentified assailant.

The victim sustained a gunshot wound in his neck causing his instantaneous death.

Roxas said residents in the area heard of a gunshot but he said nobody saw the actual killing. Police believed it was the caller who killed Odaen.

As of this posting, he said they have yet to identify the gun used in the killing though Roxas said they believed the suspect is using a high-powered firearm.

The victim’s wife said she doesn’t know of anyone who might have a personal grudge with his husband as she called for justice and bring the suspect behind bars.

Roxas said police operatives in Opol have gotten hold of the cellphone number of the caller but said it cannot be “contacted” when they tried to call it.

Police authorities are still investigating the case while the victim’s body was brought to the Bollozos Funeral Parlor in Barangay Bulua.
