FOR over four decades, the New Davao Famous Restaurant has been satisfying the taste buds of Dabawenyos with their delicious dishes, which are mainly Chinese cuisine.

Since 2018, the restaurant has been expanding within Davao City to cater to more customers and bring their food closer to Dabawenyos in the different parts of the city. Last year, they opened their Matina branch along Gen. Douglas MacArthur Highway.

On September this year, the restaurant opened its Obrero branch along Sobrecary Street, corner Teodoro Palma Gil Street.

We had lunch here during the opening of the new branch where we had their Lumpia Shanghai, Famous Fried Rice, and Sweet and Sour Pork.

New Davao Famous Restaurant’s Lumpia Shanghai has always been a sure hit every time we order here. Their lumpia is simply delicious. It has great balance of sweet and savory. I also love that the lumpia wrapper is crunchy while the filling is juicy. For most lumpia, we would need a sauce but for this one, you will not need it anymore.

The Famous Fried Rice was also delicious. This has to be among my favorite fried rice in the city.

The Sweet and Sour Pork was also pretty good but I do find it too sweet. I liked that the pork was properly cooked and not dry.

If you are looking for traditional and comforting dishes, served family style, I suggest you try visiting the New Davao Famous Restaurant. For those living within the central downtown area, the Obrero branch is now closer for most of us.
