ONE person was killed while three others were wounded after a grenade, which was planted in a motorcycle owned by a policeman, went off in Mandaluyong City Sunday morning, November 24.

Police Staff Sergeant Aldin Saligo, who was assigned at the city’s Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU), said he was on his way to the office around 6:30 a.m. on board his motorcycle.

Saligo said he drove over a hump on the road along Martinez Street, causing the grenade planted beneath his motorcycle to fall and explode while he was already about 5 meters away.

The police officer said he does not have any idea of who was behind the incident but said it might be connected to his job as he was already receiving death threats in the past.

Before being a member of the DEU, Saligo was a personnel of the intelligence division. (SunStar Philippines)
