14 suspected rebels face criminal raps

FOURTEEN suspected members of the New People's Army (NPA) were charged with murder in relation to the killing of a Citizen Armed Forces Geographical Unit (Cafgu) member in barangay Batangan, Valencia City, Bukidnon.

The NPA rebels were identified as Reynante Tumbalang also known as war/jigger; Dionisio Micabalo known as Muling/Cardo/BF/William; Abelardo Navarro known as Canoy/Narra; Julia Cagadas known as Toyang/Rheda; Bonifacio Lutawan known as Budo/Tado/Marvin/Tads/Dodong; Lorna Micabalo known as Ating/Adel/Sarah.

Also accused were Allan Morales known as Budlat/Dante; Judith Jaron known as Geelah/Lalai; Precy Locsin known as Jian/Geraldine; Michael Fat known as AS/Nonoy; Pedro Lumantas known as Andoy, Alias Mosong; Beverly Sinunta known as Toyang/Ayang/Raya, Alias Jian; and Alias Pon.

Lieutenant Colonel Surki Sereñas, Valencia City Police Chief, said they were all charged with murder, robbery, carnapping, and violation of the International Humanitarian Law.

Pedro Omblero, a Cafgu member assigned at Lumbayao Patrol Base, Valencia City under 88th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army and a resident of Purok 9, Vintar Valencia City, was killed by unidentified gunmen in front of his wife.

Omblero was off-duty from Lumbayao Patrol Base when the incident happened.

On board two motorcycles, the gunmen barged into the victim's house and held the couple at gunpoint.

The victim was ordered to drive his motorcycle and together with his partner, went with the suspects.

Upon reaching Barangay Batangan, they were then ordered to kneel. Omblero was shot twice in the head and abdomen.
