Limlingan: Vaping no more

PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte has ordered a ban on vaping in the country. Since his order, vapers can be arrested for their acts. Period.

Just what vaping is and why is it being banned by the President? It seems that Duterte is serious about the banning that he orders all policemen to arrest anyone who is caught vaping. There were those who were arrested so far.

Unfortunately, those who were arrested were not charged because of the absence of a law that would penalize vaping. After some arrests, some lawmakers are now contemplating on enacting a law that would impose penalties either by imprisonment or fine.

Vaping has been made a fad since a couple of years ago in the country. Although in foreign lands, vaping is a trend several years back. It is said that vaping is a good and even cheap alternative to smoking.

Some claim that vaping is the lesser evil since it involves chemicals being inhaled like those present in cigarettes and other tobacco products. One cannot say that it is a healthier alternative to smoking since it is does not provide health benefits.

In fact, there are s ome reported cases of vaping-related diseases that is detrimental to one's health, making it similarly deadly to smoking. Vaping is vaporizing chemicals through an electronic gadget that can be charged through its battery.

Previously, there were some vape gadgets that explode and hurting their users. What is deadlier are the chemicals in the juice or the liquid substance that is vaporized.

Vaping mimics smoking that one can resort to it and do away with smoking. However, vaping involves chemicals that did not actually passed screening or testing whether they are safe or clean to inhale. In addition, we cannot determine yet the limit on the quantity that is being put inside vapers' lungs.

Some say that vaping is as deadly as smoking. Comparatively, vaping does not produce bad-smelling smoke. In fact, there are vaping flavors that are good to the nose because of the flavorings infused in the chemicals called juice.

One can vape indoors or even inside vehicles since it vapes do not emit foul odored smoke. One need not a lighter to burn smoke-producing substance as the tobacco in a cigarette.

Since we are not sure to the ill-effects of vaping, it is much better to do away with it or better yet, not start vaping. After all, it is a form of a vice and that vapers are now apprehended although not charged. Sooner or later, those into vaping would face imprisonment should a law be enacted.
