P1.2-M shabu seized in Alijis

AN ESTIMATED P1.2 million worth of shabu or methamphetamine hydrochloride was seized in a drug bust conducted by the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) in Purok St. Vincent, Barangay Alijis, Bacolod City Sunday afternoon, November 24.

The operation led to the arrest of the suspect identified as Mohaisin Magondacan.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Ariel Pico, spokesperson of BCPO, said Magondacan was arrested after he sold a sachet of shabu to a police undercover around 3:10 p.m.

Recovered from the Magondacan’s possession were five elongated sachets of shabu, 20 big heat-sealed sachets of shabu, and the P1,000 marked money. The recovered shabu weighed 100 grams.

The suspect was detained at the custodial facility of Police Station 7 and will face charges for violation of Republic Act (RA) 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act 2002.

Meanwhile, an estimated P365,000 worth of shabu was seized in separate drug busts on November 22 to 23.

The operations also led to the arrest of Wilfredo Deopita, 62, of Purok Sigay, Barangay 2; Johnrey Oliveros, 30, of Barangay 14; and Charo Canlas, 36, of Barangay 2.

Pico said Deopita was arrested on Saturday, November 23, by personnel of Police Station 3 led by Police Major Ruel Culanag after the suspect sold a sachet of shabu to a police undercover at East Homes 6, Barangay Mansilingan around 9 p.m.

Recovered from Deopita’s possession were eight sachets of shabu with estimated market value of P330,000, the P500 marked money, and drug paraphernalia.

The suspect was identified as a street-level target in Bacolod.

On Friday, November 22, Oliveros and Canlas were arrested by operatives of Police Station 1 led by Police Major Jovil Sedel in Purok Boulevard, Barangay 14, around 10 p.m.

Recovered from the suspects’ possession were nine sachets of shabu with estimated market value of P35,000, the P300 marked money, and drug paraphernalia.

Sedel said Canlas was identified as a high-value target, while her companion Oliveros was identified as a street-level target in Bacolod. They were under surveillance for almost a month before their arrest.

The suspects are detained at the custodial facilities of Police Stations 1 and 7 and are facing charges for violation of RA 9165.
