Japanese aesthetic center enters Cebu market

A JAPANESE-OWNED aesthetic center has opened in Cebu to cash in on the growing beauty business, where foreign tourists like the Japanese are being eyed as potential markets.

Kizuna Aesthetic Center by Dr. Select was established by Japanese plastic surgeon Dr. Kentaro Ono in partnership with Dr. Hope Valerie Solano, a certified dermatologist and a diplomate of the Philippine Dermatological Society (PDS).

“Cebuanos can expect that our ingredients and medical solutions are of high quality and advance technology from Japan. We hired a Japanese aesthetician to give everyone the same techniques used by our sister company Fujieda Skin Clinic,” Solano said.

Solano and Moie Fujimoto, a certified aesthetician in Japan, are the mainstays in the center and both have been sent to Japan for formal training on the technologies they use in the center.

“The Cebuano market is very discriminating and value-conscious of the services and the quality of treatments. They are more conscious that it is important to seek advice from a certified doctor under the PDS,” Solano said.

Ono said the Japanese-style skincare is safe, secure and efficient.

A first in the Philippines, the 200-square meter clinic is located at the Basement 2 of Robinsons Galleria Cebu.

The two doctors also wanted to introduce Dr. Select beauty products in the Cebu market.

Currently, more than 10,000 beauty salons, clinics and companies are using Dr. Select products in Japan alone. They’re also being sold in China, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Russia, USA and Australia, among others.

“Dr. Select prides itself in always discovering the most advance technology that makes healthy skin in the medical beauty industry,” a company statement read.

In 2018, Japan visitors to Central Visayas totaled 464,564, based on government data. (JOB)
