SEA games starts officially at Subic

SUBIC BAY FREEPORT -- The Philippine SEA Games Organizing Committee (Phisgoc) formally opened on Monday, November 25, the 2019 SEA Games competitions for Subic Cluster with the lighting of cauldron.

Using the SEA Games torch, Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) chairman and administrator Wilma Eisma lighted the cauldron during the regular flag ceremony attended by SBMA employees and Phisgoc members.

Eisma was assisted by Mike Aguilar, Phisgoc director for ceremonies, and triathlete Claire Adorna and Triathlon SEA Games 2-time gold medalist Nicko Huelgas.

Eisma assured the Phisgoc members that Subic is all ready for the two-week games.

Subic is hosting 17 events starting on November 28 with sailing at Subic Sports Complex, Subic Gym.

Other sports include duathlon, triathlon, pencak silat, sepak takraw, chess, table tennis, muay thai, karatedo, vovinam, obstacle sports, modern-date pentathlon, beach volleyball, beach handball, weightlifting, wind surfing and traditional boat race. (Ric Sapnu)
