Army Reserve Command headquarters eyed in Candaba

THE Philippine Army Reserve Command (Arescom) is eyeing the construction of a headquarters for its Charlie Company in the province in Barangay Bahay-Pare in Candaba.

During their courtesy call to Mayor Rene Maglanque, Private First Class Vernie De Guzman said the establishment of Arescom Charlie Company headquarters will boost the reserve force management in the south and eastern part of the province.

The Arescom Charlie Company will particularly cover the towns of Arayat and Sta. Ana and the fourth district towns of Candaba, San Luis, San Simon, Minalin, Sto. Tomas, Apalit, Macabebe and Masantol, De Guzman said.

"Currently, the Charlie Company does not have its own headquarters so if this plan pursues, we are positive that our reservists in the area will be more active when needed," he said.

De Guzman said Candaba is chosen as the location of planned headquarters due to majority of the reservists in the covered area hails from the town, particularly in Barangay Bahay-Pare.

If pushed through, the Charlie Company will be the third established Community Defense Command in the province after the Alpha Company based in Angeles City and Bravo Company in Porac town.

"Aside from providing combat support when needed, our reservists are also trained to provide assistance for disaster rescue and relief operations, and the maintenance of peace and order as force multipliers," De Guzman said.

Maglanque, meanwhile, assured the troops of the local government's support and all possible assistance that can be provided by the local government to the troops.

"We will check if we are allowed to allocate a portion of the local government-owned land in Barangay Bahay Pare for their headquarters. Nonetheless, the local government will be in full support of their operation, especially relative to disaster and peace and order as it will greatly benefit our municipality," he said.
