P260-M interchange, bypass road inaugurated

BOCAUE, Bulacan -- Public works Secretary Mark Villar led the formal inauguration of the P260.818-million Ciudad de Victoria Interchange Overpass and Bypass Road here Tuesday, November 26.

This came as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)-Central Luzon has completed the construction of the 224.00 l.m. 4-lane road, the 80.80 l.m. 4-lane overpass bridge crossing NLEX, and the interchange ramp with a net length of 757.33 l.m. and 42.80 l.m. concrete bridge to be used by vehicles exiting and entering the North Luzon Expressway.

Villar said the project is expected to resolve traffic congestion problems at the Bocaue Interchange, as well as at the perennially congested Governor F. Halili Road in Bocaue Bulacan, and further improve significantly the travel time as a result of an increase in road capacity.

With the expected influx of SEA games delegates and guests during the opening and closing ceremonies, traffic within the vicinity of the Philippine Arena is anticipated to worsen considering its proximity to the NLEX.

"But with the opening of the Ciudad Interchange Overpass and Bypass Road, motorists are now provided with an alternate road avoiding heavily congested routes leading to and coming from the biennial meet opening rites venue," DPWH Regional Director Roseller Tolentino said.

Governor Daniel Fernando hailed the new development as a complement to the emerging developments in Bulacan. He added the project would ease traffic congestion in the area.
