2 killed in road mishap

TWO individuals died on the spot in a road mishap on Thursday morning, May 3, at Sitio Lukasan, Barangay Malibago, Cateel, Davao Oriental.

Based on the spot report provided by Police Regional Office (PRO)-Davao spokesperson Police Chief Inspector Milgrace Driz, Davao Oriental police received information that at about 6:42 a.m. a vehicular accident transpired at Sitio Lukasan.

The two persons who were killed were identified as Miong Alcos, a former Barangay Captain and his helper, who remains unidentified.

The PNP personnel then proceeded to the area where they saw an overturned vehicle on the right portion of the road and numerous bystanders.

“On or about 6 a.m. of May 3, 2018 motor vehicle Isuzu mini truck bearing plate no. GMU768 owned by Rogelio Dumalauron, a resident of Purok 6, Relocation Site, Poblacion, Compostela, Compostela Valley Region 11, loaded with more or less 30 passengers, with unidentified driver who fled away after the incident,” the report said.

Based on investigation, a vehicle traversing from Barangay Ngan, Compostela, Compostela Valley Province heading towards the municipality of Baganga in San Victor Island. But upon reaching Sitio Lukasan, the brake of the vehicle malfunctioned while going downhill.

It also bumped the side of the hill causing it to flip.

The other passengers were already brought to Tagum City Regional Hospital for immediate medical attention.

The cadavers of the victims were brought to morgue in Poblacion, Compostela, Compostela Valley.

The vehicle and personal belongings of the victims were still at the place of accident.

“This office is now conducting thorough investigation and hot pursuit operation for the possible identity and apprehension of the suspect (driver),” the report said.
