Corton seeks to end 2-fight skid

JOHN Cris Corton hopes to pick up a much needed victory this 2019 as he takes Dasheel Moodley in Brave Combat Federation 31 set next month.

Corton, who is coming off a two-fight losing streak, will be part of Brave CF's 31 stacked fight card set December 7 at the Sibaya Casino in Durban, South Africa headlined by Chad Hanekom and Daniel Souza Pereira.

Despite the back-to-back losses this year, Corton said he feels inspired to get back to winning ways following the recent victory of his fellow Team Lakay brother Stephen Loman, who defended his bantamweight title for the fourth time.

Corton added he is on his final two weeks of preparation refining his skills, and game plan against Moodley.

"Expect a good fight because he is a veteran, a complete fighter with striking and ground game so that's how we are making our game plan," added Corton.

Corton scored an impressive debut in Brave last year after stopping Hussein Ayyad Abdulla via decision in 2018.

But 2019 proved to be challenging year for Corton as he gets submitted in the first round by Adbul Hussein in Manila last March and another tough loss via decision against Zia Mashwani in October.

But Corton said he has learned a lot from these losses and hopes to cash in continuous training at Team Lakay, vowing to close the year with a victory and hopes to carry the momentum next year.

Brave 31 will also feature Djamil Chan taking on Amin Ayoub, while Mzwandile Hlongwa squaring off against Jeremy Smith as Kevin Ruart battle Ibrahim Mane.

Also in the fight card Nkosi Nebele against Ian Cleary with Dimitri Fogg pitted against Jason Culverwell while British Boloyoang fighting Eliezer Kubanza.
