AT LEAST 100 enthusiasts from Western Visayas and Eastern Visayas are vying for top honors in the 1st Ceres Cup Invitational Shooting Competitions slated November 30 to December 2, 2019 in Bacolod City.

The inaugural staging of the Ceres Cup shootfest aims to promote the mental and physical well-being of participants, as well as responsible and safe gun-handling, Vallacar Transit Inc. CEO and president Leo Rey Yanson said.

Yanson is also a sports patron and is concurrent owner and CEO of the multi-titled Ceres Negros Football Club.

Raymund Jacomille, District 7 manager of the Philippine Shooters and Match Officers Confederation, said the event is a PSMO-sanctioned Level 1 tournament that offers 12 major trophies to the top finishers in the six-division contest for both men and women shooters.

The three-day, five handgun-stage hostilities will take centerstage at the Negros Sports Exchange Shooting Range along Circumferential Road, Barangay Mandalagan, Bacolod City, Jacomille said.

Competitors are required to fire a minimum of 110 rounds to complete their participation, he said.

To be contested are the championship trophies in the unlimited guns with extended magazines and optics, stock high cap with more than 8 rounds of magazines, single stack standard guns, double action striker fired guns, limited 10 and revolver divisions, all both in the men and women's categories, Jacomille added.

He said special awards will also be given to the ladies' division, lawmen (for men in uniform), super seniors for entries aged 60 and above on the day of the competition and the seniors' contest for those between 50 to 59 years old.
